Maria "Lucha" De La Luz Benavides

For your Faithful, O Lord, Life is Changed not Taken Away.

Mrs. Maria de la Luz Benavides, 75, our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt entered into the glory of her eternal life on Monday, March 11, 2013, at her residence in Brownsville surrounded by her family.

Lucha, as she was affectionately known to all, was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and a dear and fun loving sister. It was a joy to be around her. Lucha was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by those fortunate to have known her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gustavo and Josefina Gaona.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of her are her son: Kirk Clovis the grandchildren that were the apple of her eye: Kristen, Kendal, and Colton Clovis her sister: Maria de los Angeles Angie Garza her niece, Becki Garza of Tucson, AZ her exhusband, Arturo N. Benavides of Laredo, TX and numerous extended family members.

In accordance with Luchas wishes she was cremated. A Memorial Mass celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2013, at St. Jospehs Catholic Church, 555 W. St. Francis St.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Luchas name may be made to Sunshine Haven Hospice Facility, P.O. Box 4478, Brownsville, TX 78523.
