Maria "Chacha" Del Carmen Garcia

Maria del Carmen Garcia, 68, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend entered into the glory of her eternal life on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Sunshine Haven Hospice Facility in Olmito, Texas surrounded by her loving family after a valiant battle against cancer.

Chacha as she was affectionately known to all, was born and raised in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico, but she had been a resident of Brownsville for numerous years. Chacha was a loving wife and devoted mother. Chacha was a cosmetologist by trade. Chacha was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by her family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known her.

Chacha was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Left behind to eternally treasure Chachas memory is her loving husband of 53 years, Omar Garcia her children: Luz del Carmen Martinez and her husband Javier, Laura Elena Bruce and her husband Richard, Martha Leticia Garcia and her partner Tiffany Rodgers, and Jesus Omar Garcia and his wife AshLeigh the eight grandchildren that were the apple of her eye Javier Omar Martinez, Liz del Carmen Martinez, Shelby Bruce, Robert Robby Bruce, AnaGrace Garcia, Easton Omar Garcia, A.J. Bankston, and Andres Emmanuel GarciaRodgers.

Chacha will also be missed by her siblings, Bernardo Obaya and his wife Rita, Maria Dolores Obaya and her husband Juan Leopoldo Gomez, and Manuel Obaya and his wife Yolanda and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and continue through 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2014 in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening at DarlingMouser. All services will conclude Saturday evening, and in accordance with Chachas wishes cremation will follow. Chachas ashes will be entombed at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2014, in the Mausoleum at Buena Vista Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Chachas name may be made to Sunshine Haven, 7105 W. Lakeside Blvd., Olmito, Texas 78575.
