Maria Concepcion Clipper, affectionately called Chonita by her family and friends, departed this earth on April 27, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Henry Clipper, her mother Estefania Trevino Foster, her father Prudencio Foster, and her sons, Terrance and Vincent Edward Clipper.
Born on January 17, 1931 in Los Indios, Texas, Mrs. Clipper was a blessing to all who knew her. A kind woman, she was known for her generosity to both friends and strangers, and for her love of gardening and music.
She was cherished by everyone who knew her, including her siblings: Irene Caballero Aguilar of Corpus Christi, Texas Angelita B. Etta of Everett, WA, and Yolanda and Ernestina Foster, both from Brownsville.
She left behind a strong legacy that can be seen in the gifts of her seven living children: Phyllis Sandra Clipper of Brownsville Clarence Mamie Clipper of LaPorte, Texas Estefania Arnold Clipper Martinez of Brownsville Dea Lana Mitchell Clipper Cowgill of McAllen, Texas Lawrence Carson Julie Clipper of Brandon, Florida Thomas Clipper of Brownsville and Rosa Michael Clipper Stevenson.
She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren who affectionately referred to her as Grandma Turtle or Grandma, including Clarence Henry Debbie Clipper, III Melissa Carlos Martinez Ryan Clipper Cecil Camyll Peters Nathaniel Crystal Johnson A.J. Amanda Peters Deallena Richard Rodriguez Michael Martinez Samuel Jamie Martinez Patricia Demetrio Recio Jeremy Fleming and Michael Stevenson. Her legacy also includes 20 greatgrandchildren, two nephews, and several greatnephews and nieces.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2011 and continue through 9 p.m. with a prayer service scheduled for 7 p.m. this evening in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2011 in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Chonitas sons: Clarence Henry Clipper Jr., Lawrence Carson Clipper, and Thomas Fitzgerald Clipper along with her grandsons: Brandon Christian Peters, Nathaniel Johnson, Samuel Henry Martinez, Allen John Peters, and Cecil Peters are honored to be serving as her pallbearers.
