Maria Luisa Chaparra Cuellar, 88, beloved sister and aunt, entered into the glory of her eternal life on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Valley Regional Medical Center.
Chaparra as she was affectionately known, was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. She was a die-hard wrestling fan and enjoyed not only going to wrestling matches, but sitting in the front row cheering on her favorite wrestlers. She also enjoyed gardening and playing Bingo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Rebecca Loya; her husband, Ramon Cuellar; and three sisters: Catalina Chano Cornejo, Jovita Timoteo Garza, and Trinidad Chale Rodriguez.
Left behind to eternally treasure her memory is her brother, Jorge Aurora Loya, of Humble, Texas; and her sister, Rachel Jose Hernandez, of El Cajon, California; her nieces and nephews: Ninfa Gomez, Feliciano, Jaime, Mario, Norma Cornejo, Gilberto, Alfredo, Belia Garza, and Jorge, Rene, Linda, and Rebecca Loya and their families.
Visitation will begin today, Monday, November 16, 2009 at 1 p.m. and continue through 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 this evening in the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at St. Josephs Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens. Chaparas nephews: Gilberto Perez, Alfredo Perez, David Perez, and Jaime Perez, along with Carlos Oceguera and Luis Garcia are honored to be serving as her pallbearers.
Chaparas family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to Brownsville Nursing and Rehab Center, Valley Regional Center Staff, and St. Josephs Church for all that they have done for them during this difficult time.
