Maria Louisa Delgado Ewing, 82, entered into eternal rest on Friday, Dec. 31, 2016, at Harlingen Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Wicha, as she was affectionately known to all, a lifetime resident of Port Isabel, Texas, was a diehard Tarpon fan. Wicha worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for various Shrimping companies in the area. Her last job was at the Port Isabel/South Padre Island Press. Wicha enjoyed spending time with family and friends; and going to parties and was usually the life of the party. A devout Catholic, Wicha was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church. Wicha was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by her family and friends but by all those fortunate enough to have known her.
Wicha was preceded in death by her son, Gordon Barry Ewing; her parents, Paula and Encarnacion Delgado; and her siblings: Desiderio Delgado Sr., Josefa D. Hambly, Luis "Wicho" Delgado, and Encarnacion Delgado Jr.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of her is her only surviving sister: Dionicia "Nicha" (Roberto Sr.) Delgado Camacho and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
In accordance with Wicha's wishes, she will be cremated. A Memorial Rosary will be offered for the repose of Wicha's soul at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 03 January 2017 at Our Lady Star of the Sea. The viewing of a video tribute will be at 9:30 a.m. prior to the Memorial Mass celebrating her life which is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St., in Port Isabel, Texas. Following the Mass, we will be burying her cremated remains in the Port Isabel City Cemetery.
In addition to floral tributes, memorial gifts in Wicha's name may be made to the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St., Port Isabel, TX 78578.
