Maria Raquel Fikes

SAN ANTONIO, TX. - Maria Raquel Rosas Fikes passed away on Sunday, the 28th of April 2024, at the age of eighty-six in San Antonio, Texas. Mrs. Fikes was a parishioner of the Basilica of The  National Shrine of The Little Flower in San Antonio.

Mrs. Fikes was born on January 18, 1938 in Brownsville, Texas, daughter of the late Luis Rosas and Isabel Cortez Rosas. Mrs. Fikes married C. B. Fikes on December 25, 1976. They lived in Brownsville until his death in 1997.

Preceding Mrs. Fikes in death was her husband, C. B. Fikes; her parents, Luis Rosas and  Isabel Cortez   Rosas; her  brothers-in-law, Ismael Ray Bryan and  James A. Carmony; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Survivors include her siblings Rosalinda C. Bryan of San Antonio, Rosalva Rosas of Olney, Maryland, Rubina R. Carmony of San Antonio, Reynaldo Rosas (Leticia) of Brownsville, Ruben  Rosas (Matilde) of McAllen, Rodolfo Rosas (Cecilia) of Brownsville, Rosario Gaston (Charles) of Boerne, and Rosamaria Wilson (Mark) of Irving; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, the 3rd of May 2024 between the hours of ten o'clock in the morning and one o'clock in the afternoon within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at two o'clock in the afternoon at Mary, Mother of the Church. Interment will then follow, via an escorted procession, at Buena Vista Burial Park, 5 McDavitt Boulevard, Brownsville.

Honored to serve as her pallbearers will be her nephews Rene Rosas, Justin Gaston, Joshua Crixell, Colby Harrison, Ryan Harrison, Mark Gonzales, and Mark Wilson.
