Maria G. Abrego, 92, our beloved sister, sisterinlaw, aunt, greataunt, and friend entered into the glory of her eternal life on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville surrounded by her loving family.
Miss Abrego was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. A devout Catholic, she was a faithful parishioner at St. Lukes Catholic Church. She was a dedicated employee with the BISD, working in the Food Service Dept. for a number of years before retiring in 1988. Miss Abrego was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all those fortunate to have known her.
Miss Abrego was preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Modesta Abrego a sister, Timotea Aguilera three brothers: Celestino, Felipe, and Pedro Abrego Jr., and two nephews, Enrique and David Abrego.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of her is her sister, Refugia Alberto Garza her sisterinlaw, Rosa Abrego the nieces and nephews that she lived with and helped raise: Celestino Delia Abrego Jr., Carlos Carmen Abrego, Jorge Rosa Abrego, Pedro Abrego, Yolanda Cisneros, Rose Mary Juan Aguilar, Patricia Abrego, and Roberto Abrego as well as numerous other nieces and nephews and their families.
Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. Monday, September 9, 2012 with the recitation of the holy rosary service scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 11th at St. Lukes Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Drive, Brownsville, TX. Committal services will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Brownsville.
