Maria L. Garcia, 96, of Brownsville, our beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, entered into the glory of her eternal life on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Valley Baptist Medial Center-Brownsville surrounded by her loving family.
Maria was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and a member of the Club Guadalupano. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Marias favorite past-times were playing Chalupa and listening to Mexican music, especially Norteo. Maria will be dearly missed by all those fortunate to have known her.
Maria was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fernando R. Garcia; by her son, Fernando Garcia Jr.; by a daughter, Lupita Garcia; her grandson Carlos Garcia Jr.; her parents, Santana and Eliza Lopez; her sisters: Elvia Saenz, Ana Laredo, and Carlota Rodriguez; and by her brothers: Raul and Guadalupe Lopez.
Left behind to eternally treasure her memory are her loving
children: Mary Lou Gallegos, Lupita Sosa, Janie Rosenbaum, Irene Jesus Cano, Robert Dora Garcia, Ramiro Zulema Garcia, Carlos Isabel Garcia, Jose Israel Delia Garcia, and Fausto Epifania Garcia; 41 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren. She will also be dearly missed by sisters: Catalina Farias, Eliza Hinojosa, Maggie Senteno, and Hortencia Garza; her brothers: Santana and Santiago Lopez; and a dear friend of the family Consuelo Chelo Garza.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2009 in the West Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1200 Lincoln St., Brownsville. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Marias sons Robert Garcia, Jose Israel Garcia, Carlos Garcia, Ramiro Garcia, and Fausto Garcia along with her grandson Jesse Cano are honored to be serving as her pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Mary Lou Gallegos, Lupita Sosa, Irene Cano, and Janie Rosenbaum.
