Mrs. Maria Luisa De Leon, 85, our beloved mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother entered into the glory of her eternal life on Monday, September 17, 2012, at Ebony Lake Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family.
A native and lifetime resident of Brownsville, Mrs. De Leon was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was the ultimate grandmother who gave her all to all 19 of her grandchildren and 33 greatgrandchildren and she managed to cater to each and every one of their whims. She loved gardening and spending time talking to her parrots. A devout Catholic, she was a lifetime member of Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Mrs. De Leon was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by those fortunate to have known her.
Mrs. De Leon was preceded in death by her parents: Casimiro and Maria Luisa Mendez her husband, Jose G. De Leon a son, Trinidad De Leon a granddaughter, Anna Marie Canul two sisters: Josefina M. Martinez and Olivia M. Tijerina and two brothers: Ricardo and Casimiro Mendez Jr.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of her are her seven sons: Jose Jr., Ismael, Hector, Luis, Jorge, Gilberto, and Monico De Leon two daughters: Guadalupe Gallegos and Inelda De Leon and their families nineteen grandchildren thirtythree greatgrandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 20, 2012, and continue
through 9 p.m. in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday, September 21, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Cathedral, 1218 E. Jefferson St. Committal services will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. De Leons seven grandsons are honored to be serving as pallbearers for their beloved grandmother. Her seven sons and two sonsinlaw, Juan R. Gallegos and Jaime Davila and two of her greatgrandsons: Brandon and Boni Cordero Jr. will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. De Leons family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and sincere appreciation to the staff at Ebony Lake Healthcare and Rehab Center and to Dr. Lorenzo Pelly for all the care and attention they gave to their beloved mother. May God continue to bless all of you as you minister to others.
