Maria Mendez Medrano entered into eternal rest with the Lord on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Ebony Lake Healthcare Center. She was born on November 8, 1920 in Brownsville, Texas. The Lord blessed her with 89 years of life. She was the daughter of Serafina Garcia Mendez and Wenceslado Mendez.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Francisco Medrano, brothers Pedro Mendez and Joaquin Flores and a sister Aurora F. Castillo.

She is survived by her loving son Alberto M. Beto Elizabeth Medrano and her grandchildren Marisa M. MedranoLopez Robert and David A. Medrano. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and a host of friends.

She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, motherinlaw, daughter, sister, and aunt. Her life was devoted to loving, nurturing, and caring for her son from a very young age. She was very devoted to her family and was always concerned for their well being. Her love for God and her church was always present in her life and was a very devout Catholic. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Ebony Lake Nursing Home and its staff for the loving care given to her during her last part of her life and to Dr. Luis Robles. Please know that your dedication and caring is very much appreciated. The family also wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to all the family and friends who visited her and had her and the family in their prayers. May God bless you all.

Visitation and rosary will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2010 in the East Chapel of Darling Mouser Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Resurrection will be on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Marys Church in Brownsville, Texas. Burial will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Honored to be her pallbearers are David Medrano, Robert Lopez, Leonel Teran, Jr., Ruben Rodriguez, Juan Canul, and Juan Enrique Flores.

Honorary Pallbearers are Joaquin Trevino, Felipe Trevino, Frank Robles, Joe Trevino, Leonel Mendez, Pedro Mendez, Jesus Castillo, George Garcia, Noe Robles, Mark Crowe, Dr. Maurilia Rodriguez, Gloria Vallejo, Ninfa Vasquez, Zoila Pina, and Ignacia Crowe.
