Maria Cruz Melendez

Mrs. Maria Cruz Melendez, 101, our beloved mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, sister, and aunt entered into the glory of her eternal life on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas surrounded by her loving family.

Doa Maria Cruz who was a native of Rincon de Ramos, Zacatecas, Mexico, had been a resident of Brownsville for numerous years. Doa Maria Cruz was totally devoted to her family. She was an exemplary mother and role model of being a mother to her daughters and granddaughters. She was a hardworking woman who was up at the break of day and she totally personified the saying, Cleanliness is next to Godliness. Doa Maria was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all those fortunate to have known her.

Doa Maria was preceded in death by a son, Rafael Melendez a daughter, Guadalupe Cruz Lopez a grandson, Antonio Noe Villarreal her parents two sisters, and two brothers.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of her are her children: Isidora Antonio C. Villarreal, Catalina Melendez, Juan Betty Melendez, Alicia Guadalupe Ramos, Rosalinda Jose Gonzalez, and Elva M. Roberto Naranjo thirtysix grandchildren, sixtythree greatgrandchildren, twelve greatgreatgrandchildren a sister Paula Cruz Najera a brother, Miguel Maria Melendez and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, 2013, in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home with a prayer service scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening. The Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 4, 2013, in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser. Committal services will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Doa Marias grandsons are honored to be serving as pallbearers for their beloved grandmother.
