Maria Campos Oakley, June 1939 February 2011, has died and entered into eternal glory with our Lord. She passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. Maria was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas. She founded Marias El Torito restaurants which continue to operate.
She was the beloved wife of Karl Oakley for 50 years and was one of twelve born to the late Concepcion and Agustina Campos. Maria will forever be remembered by her family and friends. Left to cherish her life and contributions are her loving husband, Karl Oakley son , Steven Oakley Monica and daughter Emily Oakley Ramirez Alfredo grandson, Jonathon Oakley and granddaughters: Jamie Oakley, Natia Oakley, Dominique Ramirez and Bianca Ramirez. In addition, her beloved siblings who will continue to treasure their lives together are her brothers:Encarnacion Campos Lupita, Agustin Campos, and Antonio Campos Lucy and her sisters, Ignacia Nunez, Modesta Campos, Enriqueta Quiroz, Juanita Cortez, Lupita Bosserman David, and Petra and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Roger Eric Oakley her parents a sister, Sofia C. Silguero and two brothers: Florentino Campos and Anastacio Campos.
Maria touched the lives of many people family, friends and strangers with her generosity. She maintained her trademark of always doing whats RIGHT to help those in need.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated by Father Francisco Acosta on Saturday, February 26th, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the nursing staff at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas who provided great care to make Maria comfortable.
