Theresa Rendon was born on January 4, 1922 in Los Herrera, Nuevo Leon, Mexico and passed away on September 23, 2018 in Brownsville, Texas. She was 96 years old.
She was preceded in death by her parents Raymundo Salinas and Dominga Pena Salinas, her husband Fred B. Rendon Sr., and her son Dennis Rendon.
Theresa Rendon was also referred to as "Mamia" by her 17 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Mamia was a beautiful person and will be missed by her family and friends. She had a beautiful voice and loved to sing. She was an avid reader and enjoyed reading all kinds of literature. Mamia was dedicated to her family and was a shining role model of decency. She was especially proud of knowing that all four of her sons served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1965 to 1974.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and best friend Argentina (Jose) Guerra Rendon, Fred Rendon Jr. (Nelda), Gilbert Rendon (Christine), Arthur Rendon (Nora) and her brother Emanuel " Chico" Salinas from Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico and her two sister in-laws Ophelia Argunzoni from Dallas, Texas and Lupita Salinas from Brownsville, Texas.
Visitation will begin today, Tuesday, September 25, 2018, beginning at 4 p.m., and will continue until 9 p.m., with recitation of the holy rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m., at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. Mass of Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, September 26, at 9 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Serving as pallbearers for Mrs. Rendon will be all her grandsons: Gilbert Rendon Jr., Arthur Rendon Jr., Guillermo Guajardo, David Guajardo, John L. Rendon, Steve Guerra, Anthony (Benny) Rendon, Aaron W. Rendon, Jose Guerra and Fred P. Rendon III.
Serving as honorary pallbearers for Mrs. Rendon will be all her granddaughters: Debbie Lewis, Annie Wolfe, Judy Engle, Stephanie Rendon, Nora R. Tijerina, Kaliea Rendon and Samantha Rendon.
The family would like to recognize and give thanks to Dr. Lorenzo Pelly and his staff from American Medical Hospice for such amazing support as well as all the personnel who provided assistance to Mrs. Rendon at The Rio on Fox Hollow Nursing Facility.
