Maria Rosa Gonzalez, 87, our beloved sister, aunt, and friend entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at her residence in Brownsville surrounded by her loving family.
A native and lifetime resident of Brownsville, Rosa touched the lives of countless children in our community by working as a teacher at St. Francis and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Schools and as a teacher's assistant at Skinner Elem.
Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Rita Gonzalez; two sisters: Rebecca Reyna and Esperanza Gonzalez; and three brothers: Guillermo, Vicente, and Ruben Gonzalez. .
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of Rosa are her two sisters: Beatrice G. ( Percy+) Morrow and Lydia (Armando) Ortiz; her brother, Simon (Irma) Gonzalez; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2015 and continue through 8:00 p.m. in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Darling-Mouser. The Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13th at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1914 Barnard Road. Committal services will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
