Maria Elena Rendon Salinas, 89, our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, and Friend entered into the eternal glory of heaven on Sunday, November 14, 2010 surrounded by her loving family at Valley Regional Medical Center.
A native and lifetime resident of Brownsville, Mrs. Salinas was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. In her spare time, she loved to crochet and everyone in the family has something that she crocheted for them. She was a good cook and made the best oatmeal cookies ever. She will be dearly missed by everyone who was fortunate to have known her.
Mrs. Salinas was preceded in death by her parents, Jacobo and Cecilia Almaguer Rendon a brother, Valentin Rendon a grandson, Luis Javier Bubba Martinez her loving husband of 37 years, Margarito Salinas and 2 children who did not survive infancy, Juan and Rosa Salinas.
Left behind to cherish their memories of her are her daughters: Olga Jesus Martinez, Gloria Jose Luis Cardenas, Margarita Salinas Mercado, Hilda Arturo Torres, and Liza Salinas 17 grandchildren, 13 greatgrandchildren, 2 greatgreatgrandchildren a brother, Jacobo Rendon, and 9 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. and continue through 9 p.m. today, Tuesday, November 16, 2010 with a prayer service beginning at 7 p.m. at DarlingMouser Funeral Home in the West Chapel. Pastor Erasmo Castro will conduct the funeral service celebrating Mrs. Salinas life at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 in the West Chapel at DarlingMouser. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. Mrs. Salinas grandsons: Anthony Martinez, Joshua Martinez, Luis Eduardo Cardenas, Matthew Torres, Edward Salinas, and Jesus Javier Contreras II are honored to be serving as pallbearers for their beloved grandmother. Mr. Jesus Javier Contreras will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
