Maria Guadalupe Serna, 83, our beloved mother and sister, entered into the glory of her eternal life on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Brownsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family.
A native of Matamoros, Tamps., Mexico, Mrs. Serna had been a resident of Brownsville for a number of years. She was an extraordinary woman who was ahead of her time. A devout Catholic who attended Mass daily, she was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Cathedral. She was totally devoted to her family and was an exceptional mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents Leandro and Maria Ramirez her beloved husband, Guadalupe Lefty Serna and her siblings: Jose Maria Ramirez, Roberto Ramirez, Maria del Pilar Mendez, and Lucia Cortez.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of her are her four children: Maria J. Serna, Carmen Serna, Jose Alfredo and his wife Deborah Serna, and Jess and his wife Mary Serna two brothers: Felipe and his wife Dora Ramirez and Andres Ramirez and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin Monday, March 1, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. and continue through 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. this evening in the East Chapel at Darling Mouser Funeral Home. The Mass of Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Immaculate Conception Cathedral, 1218 E. Jefferson St. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens. Jose Alfredo Serna, Jess Serna, Jose Luis Gutierrez, Juan Reyes, Alfredo Gonzalez, Andres Ramirez, and Felipe Ramirez are honored to be serving as Mrs. Sernas pallbearers.
The Serna family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the Staff at Brownsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their excellent and loving care.
