Maria M. Sierra

Maria M. Sierra, 85, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt friend, entered into eternal rest at Valley Regional Medical Center on Monday, February 9, 2009.

Mrs. Sierra was born in Brownsville and was a lifelong resident. She was preceded in death by her husband Ramiro Sierra, a sister Manuela Villarreal and 3 brothers, Mauricio, Alonzo and Rafael Moran.

Left to eternally cherish her memory are her children, Ramiro Mauro Sierra Maria Elena of Houston, Robert Sierra Leticia, Pete Richard Sierra Sylvia, David Sierra and Guadalupe S. Toriz Adolfo, all of Brownsville and Sylvia S. Hernandez Oscar of Houston; 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Lorenzo Moran and Manuel Moran Angie, both of Brownsville and Arnoldo Moran of San Antonio, a sister-in-law, Guadalupe Moran, affectionately known to her family as Mama Lupe of Brownsville and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved pet dog Pitty, and her special friends, Amelia Ochoa, Aida Cavazos and Raquel Gomez.

Mrs. Sierras family would like extend their sincere appreciation to all of the staff at Brownsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, all of her attending physicians and their staff and the personnel at Valley Regional Medical Center ICU for their excellent care and compassion.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. today, Wednesday, February 11, 2009 in the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.

Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 12, 2009 at St. Luke Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell with interment to follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Robert Daniel Sierra Anabel, Adolfo Toriz, Jr.Elizabeth, Albert Toriz Ellie, Oscar Hernandez, Jr., Michael Hernandez Christine and George Suniga Kristy. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Sandra T. Ponce Jason, Yvonne S. Mills Jason, Kristy Suniga George, Valori Sierra, Pamela Sierra Mark, Cynthia Sierra and Kristy Browder Kevin .
