Maria Isabel Thomas

Maria Isabel Thomas, 92, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Spanish Meadows Nursing Home in Brownsville, Texas.

She was born in March of 1923, in Veracruz, Mexico to Maria Gomez and Telesforo Solis. Maria Isabel was a devout Catholic and loved giving to multiple charities along with her weekly prayer groups.

Maria Isabel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Albert Thomas, Sr., a son, James Albert Thomas Jr., and her sisters: Margaret Para, Sara Lerma, Elvia Yarborough, and Maria Helena Cruz.

Maria Isabel is survived by her grandchildren: Timothy Lee Thomas, Jeffery Dale Thomas, Jeri Dea Thomas, and John Michael Thomas; and one great-grand-daughter, Erin Elizabeth VanZandt; her sisters: Ofelia De La Llata, Sylvia Blackmore, Irma Walk, Rosemary Worden; a brother, Tony Solis; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 555 W. St. Francis St. in Brownsville, Texas. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
