Maria Magdalena Zavaleta Lavios, 100, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, in Brownsville, TX, surrounded by her family.
Manena, as she was known to all, was a lifetime resident of Brownsville. She was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception and worked as a sales clerk first at Sears where she retired after 25 years of loyal and faithful service. After retiring from years Sears, Manena worked at Ransomes Jewelers.
Manena was preceded in death by her parents, Esperanza and Bruno Zavaleta and numerous other family members.
Manena is survived by her nephew, Bruno Rita Zavaleta and their children and numerous other nieces and extended family members.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. and continue through 9:00 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. today, Friday, January 10, 2014, at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Bruno Zavaleta III, Rolando Olvera, Roli Olvera, Michael Barron, Emilio Sanchez, and Gustavo Zavaleta are honored to be serving as Manenas pallbearers.
