Maria C. Esparza

BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Maria C. Esparza entered into eternal rest on Sunday, the 22nd March 2020 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was eighty-seven years old.

Maria was the sweetest mom, a loving grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a caring woman who made friends everywhere she went with her kind-hearted personality. She sacrificed a lot to ensure her children had everything they needed, putting others first before herself. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time in her beautiful garden tending to her many plants. Maria was a devout Catholic and longtime avid parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brownsville, where she volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister, taking sacraments to various nursing homes to the ill with Sister Tulia Giraldo, and assisted in church festivals and activities. She will always be remembered as a kind-hearted soul who was compassionate and loving towards those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Virgilio Esparza; son, Oscar Samuel Esparza; son-in-law, SSGT Hector Rene Perez; brother, Fernando Rivas; and by her sister, Guadalupe Rivas.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her children Virgilio Esparza, Jr. (Liduvina), Gerardo Esparza (Noemi), Liliana Esparza, Juan Esparza (Aleida), Elisa E. Perez (Hector +), and Erendira Freitag; fifteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and her sister, Ofelia Lopez Rivas.

A private committal service will be held.
