CORPUS CHRISTI/BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Maria Luisa “Lulu” Garcia entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, the 2nd of August 2022 in the comfort of her son's residence in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was eighty-eight years of age.
Maria Luisa was born on May 13, 1934 in Brownsville, Texas, daughter of the late Ignacio Vega, Sr. and Margarita Davila. A devout Catholic, Maria Luisa was a parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She worked for Dillard’s until her retirement and in her spare time enjoyed sewing and crafting and her many travels with her daughter. Lulu was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be dearly missed.
Preceding Maria Luisa in death was her husband, Enrique Z. Garcia; her son, Enrique V. “Henry” Garcia, Jr.; her daughter, Norma Linda Garcia; her brother, Ignacio Vega, Jr.; and her sister, Irma Vega.
Survivors include her son, Sergio V. Garcia (Monica); her two brothers, Leonel Vega (Janet) and Noe Vega (Celia); her granddaughter, Vallerie Dalrymple (Michael); her grandson, Sergio Garcia (Lacey); her two great-grandchildren, Bella and Alex Dalrymple; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, the 4th of August 2022 between the hours of five o’clock in the afternoon and nine o’clock at night, with the recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o’clock Thursday evening within the West Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at twelve noon on Friday, the 5th of August 2022 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1200 Lincoln Street, Brownsville. Interment will then follow, via an escorted procession, at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville.
The family wishes to thank the Medical Staff of Christus Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi Shoreline and the Staff at New Century Hospice of Corpus Christi, Texas. A Special Thank You to her nurses Anna Lisa King, Melissa Shaelle, and Tammy. To her providers Norbeto Rosas, Jr., Melissa Leal, and Mrs. Carolina Mondragon, the family is beyond grateful for your loving compassion and kindness shown to Lulu. It was truly a blessing to have wonderful people taking care of her.
