BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Maria Luz Ortiz-Pardo entered into eternal rest at her residence on Wednesday, the 27th of November 2019 surrounded by her family. She was ninety-three years of age.
Maria was born in Madrid, Spain and immigrated to Matamoros, Mexico at the age of twenty-three, where she lived until the 1960’s before once again immigrating, this time to the United States of America, and obtained her United States citizenship while settling in Brownsville, Texas. She was a dedicated and loving mother to her only child, Richard, who remained beside her until the very end. Maria was a devout woman of her Catholic faith, having been a member of the historic Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Brownsville and of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Brownsville for the last thirty years. In her spare time, she enjoyed the outdoors and gardening within her yard, tending to the many flowers she planted and nurtured with her green thumb. She will always be remembered as a kind, caring, and responsible individual who will be missed greatly.
Her parents, Manuel and Paula Pardo; eldest sister, Luisa Arrarte; and husband, Ricardo Ortiz, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her loving son Richard Ortiz (Martina +); granddaughter, Marisa Ortiz; great-grandchildren Miranda Ortiz, Manuel Hernandez, Janelle Arenas, and David Arenas; and by her sister, Ana Adinolfi (Renato +) of Italy. She is also survived by other extended family members.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, the 4th of December 2019 between the hours of five o’clock in the afternoon and nine o'clock at night, with the recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o'clock Wednesday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
