Mariano Marín de la Garza entered into the glory of his eternal life on Sunday, September 9, 2018 in Brownsville, Texas.

After graduating from the Instituto Laurens in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mariano graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a degree in Industrial Engineering.
After graduation, he returned to Matamoros, Tamaulipas where he established a pre-mixed concrete plant, which was one of the first in northern Mexico. He was involved in the construction of numerous private and public sector projects in the region and served in leadership roles in several civic and business organizations, including the Matamoros Chamber of Commerce and the Lions Club, among others.

At the Instituto Laurens, he taught himself to bat left handed because the right field wall was closer to home plate. He enjoyed playing basketball in the municipal league in Matamoros and was often seen riding his silver Harley motorcycle wearing his basketball warmers on his way to the basketball gym.
é'año, as he was known to his grandchildren, was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by his family and friends.
