Marie Catherine "Katie" Parra

GEORGETOWN, TX. - Marie Catherine Parra, affectionately known as Katie, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, the 15th of February 2025 in Temple, Texas. She was 56 years of age. 

Katie was born on October 17, 1968 in Brownsville, Texas, daughter of the late Guadalupe C. Parra and Rita Parra. She attended Lincoln Park school and later resided in Georgetown, Texas where she was a parishoner of St. Helen Catholic Church. Her favorite pastimes included watching game shows, playing cards, and looking at books and magazines.

Preceding Katie in death are her parents, Guadalupe C. and Rita Parra; her sisters, Gladys P. Kaffenberger and Maria Del Refugio Parra Gonzalez; and her brother, Guadalupe Parra, Jr.

Survivors include her siblings Esther Jones, Norma P. Horsley, Irma Bixler, Vivian Lunan, Arturo Parra, and Edward Parra.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, the 24th of February 2025 between the hours of five o’clock in the afternoon and nine o'clock at night, with the recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o'clock Monday evening within the West Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at nine o'clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 25th of February 2025 at the historic Immaculate Conception Cathedral, 1218 E. Jefferson Street, Brownsville. Interment will then follow, via an escorted procession, at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville.
