Marilyn Joyce Breeden

Marilyn Joyce Breeden, 86, much loved wife, mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away on Monday, June 13, 2011 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville.

Marilyn who was born and raised in a small town in Illinois was always a big dreamer. At an early age, she knew she wanted to do things and be more than the daughter of the towns banker, much to her fathers dismay. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Millikan University and also studied at the University of Illinois in Champaign.

Marilyns dream to travel and see the world became a reality when she became a stewardess for Pan American Airways. She was assigned the South American route and flew often to Guatemala, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Columbia, Panama, and the Dominican Republic. Her dream destination was Rio but she never made it instead she was transferred to Brownsville, TX. Her memoir states, To me Brownsville, Texas did not exist except as a code name BRO on the flight itinerary Brownsville, Ugh

But Brownsville proved to be good to her, as this is where she met Dan, her future husband and the love of her life. They married, raised three fine sons, Bob, Don, and Doug, and built a wonderful life in Brownsville. We are thankful for that.

Marilyn was a young farm girl from a small town a musician, a college grad and world traveler who went on to become a loving wife, and a very, very good mother. She served as a Den mother, was an understanding motherinlaw, a confidant, and a tremendous grandmother and greatgrandmother to her large family.

Marilyn loved dancing, the PEO, collecting Amber, the Pan American Round Table, traveling, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all those whose lives she touched.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband Dan F. Breeden.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of her are her children: Robert J. Bob Janet Breeden, Donald F. Don Luana Breeden, and Douglas W. Doug Dolores Breeden seven grandchildren 10 greatgrandchildren a brother, Robert Carol McCarty and a sister, Joanne Bob Nixon 6 nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

The family will begin to receive friends at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2011 in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. Pastor Ed Robertson will officiate the chapel service celebrating Marilyns life at 12 Noon on Thursday, June 16th.
