Mark Anthony Ahumada, 37, formerly of Brownsville, our beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend entered into the glory of his eternal life on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at New York Presbyterian Columbia Hospital in New York City, New York.
Mark was born in Brownsville in 1974 the oldest son of Patricio Pat Ahumada Jr. and Adriana Campuzano Ahumada. Mark was proud to have been the first one in his family to receive a higher education, graduating from Homer Hanna High School in 1993 and then moved to Austin where he attended the University of Texas, graduating with a Bachelors and MBA in Sociology in 2004. Mark was continuing his education in New York.
Mark moved to New York about 13 years ago and was working at ACDP Clinic as a social therapist working with abused children. In those short 13 years, Mark not only touched the lives of many, but he made a significant impact on the patients he served, his coworkers, and the many he came in contact with in his community through his willingness to help and give back to people in need.
Mark loved to travel, cycling, listening to music, and NY, but mostly working with children. He was a very joyful person, always with a huge smile on his face. Mark put everyone before himself and he was always willing to lend a helping hand. Mark was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by those fortunate to have known him.
Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Adriana Ahumada a sister, Carolina Ahumada his maternal grandparents, Gloria and Fernando Campuzano and his paternal grandparents, Guadalupe M. and Patricio Ahumada Sr.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of Mark is his loving father, Patricio Pat Ahumada Jr his siblings, Claudia Patricia Ahumada, Oscar Mauricio Allie Cornejo Ahumada, Jose Alfredo Ahumada, Evelyn Ahumada and her mother, Patricia Alafitta a niece, Carolina Ahumada and a nephew, Joaquin Ahumada. Mark will also be missed by his numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and extended family particularly the ONeill family in New York and the many friends who loved and mourn Marks unexpected passing caused by an arrhythmic heart.
In accordance with Marks wishes, he was cremated and a memorial service was held on Saturday, March 09, 2012 in Astoria, New York.
Marks family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 with a Liturgical Service Celebrating Marks life starting at 7:00 p.m. in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Marks name may be made to the Brownsville Police Dept. Community and Youth Program, Attn: Chiefs Office, 600 E. Jackson St., Brownsville, TX 78520 and or Driscoll Childrens Hospital, Attn: Development Dept., 3533 S. Alameda, Corpus Christi, TX 78411 and 3616946401 as Mark organized a toy drive in NY for children and worked with children.
