SAN BENITO, TX. – Martha Elena Borrego Wadhwani, our beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, was welcomed into the arms of her savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, the 15th of April 2023. She was fifty-nine years of age.
Martha was born in Brownsville, Texas on July 29, 1963, daughter of Modesto “Moe” Garza Borrego, Jr. and Dora Rodriguez Borrego. She was a coach, an educator, an entrepreneur, a salesperson, and an author. She was very proud of writing a book about her daughter Alina’s cross cultural heritage, “Aleeny-Boo, Who Are You?”
Martha loved Jesus and was full of life and loved to work out. Her daughter Alina, her son Chris, her grandsons, Brendon and Christian, and her fur baby, Molly, were the loves of her life.
Preceding Martha in death was her father, Modesto G. Borrego; her paternal grandparents, Beatriz and Modesto Borrego Lerma; her paternal uncles Juan Borrego, Reynaldo (Tila) Borrego, Adalberto Borrego, George (Vicky) Borrego, and Arturo (Socorro) Borrego; her paternal aunts, Beatrice Gutierrez (Mario+) and Rosalinda Rinehart (Ted+); her maternal grandparents, Hernan and Manuela Rodriguez; her maternal aunt, Zulema Zárate (Norberto +); and her maternal uncles, Hernan Juan Rodriguez (Gloria) and Tomas Rodriguez (Rosario).
Survivors include her mother, Dora R. Borrego; her daughter, Alina Wadhwani; her son, Chris Wadhwani; and her grandsons, Christian and Brendan Wadhwani; her brother, Marco Borrego (Marcy); her paternal aunt, Maria Cavazos (Juan); her maternal uncle, Johnny Rodriguez (Mary +); and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces. Martha was deeply loved and will greatly be missed by her family and friends and all of those fortunate enough to have known her.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, the 20th of April 2023 between the hours of one o’clock in the afternoon and nine o'clock at night, with a recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o'clock Thursday evening within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at two o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 21st of April 2023 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 24380 US-281, El Ranchito, Texas. Cremation will immediately follow the mass.
Honored to serve as her pallbearers are Alex "Tato" Ayala, Mark Borrego, Miguel Del Bosque, Carlos Borrego, Herman Rodriguez, and Jaime Rodriguez.
