Martina Monika Ortiz, 68, entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 7, 2017, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville.
Martina, who was born in Germany, had been a resident of Brownsville for 45 years. She came to Brownsville after she married Ricardo M. Ortiz. Martina was a dedicated teacher for 30 years with the BISD. She
touched the lives of many of our city's youth as an elementary bilingual teacher at Skinner Elem.
Martina was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Martina was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by her family and friends but by all those fortunate enough to have known her.
Martina is survived by her husband of 45 years, Ricardo M. Ortiz; a daughter, Marisa Ann Ortiz; her parents: Wilhelmina and Neal McBryde; the four grandchildren that were the apple of her eye: Miranda Luz, Manuel, Janelle, and Armani Ortiz; her mother-in-law, Maria Luz "Mari" Ortiz; a brother-in-law, Neal Doak (Bernadette) McBryde; a nephew, J.D. McBryde and several cousins, friends, and extended family members.
Visitation will be from 2:30 to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11th, at Darling Mouser Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. All services will conclude Tuesday evening and in accordance with Martina's wishes, cremation will follow.
