Los Fresnos, TXWith her family at her bedside, Mary Lou Keillor Bannert, 71 peacefully passed on to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 7, 2010, after a valiant, fiveryear struggle with cancer.
Mary Lou was born on December 23, 1938, in Chicago. She graduated from Morton High School in Cicero, Illinois. In July of 9157 she married Adolph Weldon Bannert, Jr. of Los Fresnos they lived in Cicero and later Roselle, Illinois. Mary Lou and Adolph moved to Los Fresnos in 1965. She worked side by side with her husband in their business in Brownsville, Texas, Adolphs Bannert Automotive, from October 1968 through June 2003 Mary Lou ran the office and Adolph ran the shop.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Ormal Alfred and Georgiana Louise Keillor.
Mary Lou is survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Adolph three daughters, Linda Lou Joy Miller and husband, Gerald, of Los Fresnos Ramona Lee Carter and husband, Robert, of Smith Station, Alabama and Kathleen Mae Zepeda and husband, Robert, of Los Fresnos seven grandchildren: Benjamin Miller, Jennifer Miller Reasner, Joshua Miller, Tessah Zepeda, Bobby Zepeda, Kaylah Zepeda, and Isaish Zepeda. Mary Lou was awaiting the birth of her first greatgrandchildren, expected in December.
She is also survived by her brother, Herman J. Keillor, M.D., of Harlingen and James Keillor of Los Fresnos by her sisters, Judy Keillor Powell of Los Fresnos and Bonnie Keillor Slaten of Colorado Springs, Colorado several cousin, nieces, and nephews, and her precious cats.
Mary Lou lived to serve others she devoted over a decade of her life providing daily care for family members, first for her father until his passing, followed by care for her mother, and then for a close uncle and aunt, all preceding their passings. She was a great cook and welcomed family and friends in her home at any time for a meal or companionship. Whenever family members fell ill, they would receive a large container of her famous chicken soup to aid in their recovery. She gave of herself to others and she will be dearly missed by her family and those who knew her.
A memorial service and celebration of her life, led by Pastor Eddie Sanchez, will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Los Fresnos. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, First Baptist Church, 300 E. ocean Blvd., Los Fresnos, Texas 78566.
