Mary Josephine Butcher, 69, our beloved sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend entered into eternal rest on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Ebony Lake Healthcare Center in Brownsville, Texas surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. At a very young age, Mary began a career as a waitress that spanned 4 decades. Mary worked at several local restaurants, most notably at Gio's Villa where she worked for 28 years and at the Rancho Grande Restaurant. Mary was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by her family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known her.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Raquel L. and Jim F. Butcher.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of Mary are her siblings: Harriet R. Butcher from Brownsville, Texas, Rachel B. (Linwood+) Feaster from Charles Town, West Virginia, James C. (Rafaela) Butcher from Corpus Christi, Texas, Shirley A. Butcher from Brownsville, Texas, and Gladys R. (Fernando Sr.) Fernandez from Corpus Christi, Texas along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and other extended family members.
In accordance with Mary's wishes, she will be cremated. A Memorial Mass celebrating Mary's life will be held at a later date.
Mary's family would like to extend a heartfelt gratitude to all those who prayed for Mary during her last illness. They will never forget you. Special thanks also to the Doctors', nurses, and health care providers that took care of Mary during her illness, May God Bless you all.
