Mary LaVonne Hotcaveg

BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Mary LaVonne Hotcaveg was called home by our Lord on Wednesday, the 24th of May 2023, at the age of eighty-four.

Mary was born in Sioux City, Iowa, daughter of Ralph and Wahnitta M. Holdcroft. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Howard T. Hotcaveg; her son, Steven J. Hotcaveg; her parents, Ralph and Wahnitta M. Holdcroft; her sisters, Ellen Miranda and Janice Upton; and by her brothers, Raymond Holdcroft and Clyde Holdcroft.

Mary graduated from Donna High School. Shortly afterwards, Mary married the love her of life, Howard, and was a doting wife for sixty-two years. She was a loving mother to her five children, and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she spent many hours teaching to bake and sew, and she loved the countless FaceTime moments with them all.

Left to cherish her memories are her children Thomas Hotcaveg, Bonnie Salazar (Bill), Sandra Hotcaveg, and Linda Hotcaveg (Emmett); her grandchildren Jason, Stevie, Jolene, LaVonne, JoAnna, Janie, Eli, Victoria, Alexis, and Brianna; and her great-grandchildren Amelia, Gianna, Jason, Alina, Peyton, Jay, Howard, Emmalina, Mackenzie, Alyssa, Kathryn C., Sienna, Jack, Noah, and Kathryn R.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, the 3rd of June 2023 beginning at ten o’clock in the morning within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. A Chapel Service will commence at two o'clock in the afternoon. Interment will immediately follow, via an escorted procession, at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4464 Old Port Isabel Road, Brownsville.

Honored to serve as her pallbearers will be Jason Salazar, Eli Hotcaveg, Stevie Hotcaveg, Tony Macias, Michael Cadriel, Fernando Reyes, Joe Salazar, Jesus Huerta, and Emmett Flores.

Honorary pallbearers are Roy Holdcroft, Terry Sims, and William Seale.
