BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Mary Katherine Lallier McGowan, broker and co-owner of All Star Realtors, passed away peacefully on Thursday, the 26th of September 2024 in the comfort of her Brownsville residence at 102 years of age.
Mary was born on August 12, 1922 in Galveston, Texas, daughter of the late Frank Avera Lallier and Ona Wood Lallier. In her youth, her family relocated to Brownsville, Texas where she attended local schools, graduating from Brownsville High School. She went on to attend The University of Houston where she received her bachelor's degree.
Mary was a prominent real estate agent in Brownsville and was the recipient of several real estate awards throughout her career. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and loved the Lord and the life that he gave her. Her favorite pastimes included solving crosswords puzzles, reading, dancing and music, and serving as a Girl Scout leader.
Preceding Mary in death are her husband, Louis J. McGowan; her parents, Frank A. Lallier and Ona W. Lallier; and her brother, Frank Lallier.
Survivors include her children Stephen John McGowan (Dianne), Jorine Joy McGowan Marshall (Wayne), and Michael Frank McGowan; her grandchildren Ryan McGowan, Matt McGowan, Kristyn Massey, and Colton Massey; and her great-grandchildren Austin McGowan, Gavin McGowan, Aneth Harkleroad, Saydie-Renee Massey, and Avianna Massey; her cousin, Monica Dail; her nieces and nephews Carol Brock, Jerry Brock, and Barbara Crisei; and her numerous dogs and cats.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, the 2nd of October 2024 between the hours of four o'clock in the afternoon and eight o'clock at night within the Darling-Mouser Funeral Home Stateroom. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a time and date yet to be announced.
In lieu of floral arrangements and customary remembrances, contributions in her memory may be directed to Sea Turtle, Inc., www.seaturtleinc.org and to the ASPCA, www.aspca.org.
