BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Mary Ann Boehl entered into eternal rest on Thursday, the 2nd of March 2023 in the comfort of her Brownsville residence surrounded by her loving family. She was eighty-eight years of age.
Mary was born in San Antonio, Texas on August 20, 1934, daughter of the late Adolph Arthur Lieck and Johnnie Mac Denson Lieck. She graduated from Jefferson High School in San Antonio and went on to attend and graduate from Texas Lutheran College in Seguin, Texas. Later, Mary obtained her Masters in Special Education at Texas A&I University, Kingsville, Texas. She taught at R. L. Martin Elementary in Brownsville, Texas for many years, teaching both 4th grade and Special Education until her retirement from the Brownsville Independent School District.
Mary was active in the City PTA Council, Pan American Round Tables I & II, Bunco Club, and the Brownsville Area Retired School Employees Association (BARSEA). She was an avid reader and her other favorite pastimes included traveling and swimming.
Preceding Mary in death was her husband of twenty-eight years, William Henry Boehl; her parents, Adolph Arthur Lieck and Johnnie Mac Lieck; and her sister, Betty Mickey (Charles “Mickey”).
Survivors include her children Anna Lynn Boehl, William Allen “Billy” Boehl (Tammy), and Brian Boehl (Kim); her grandchildren Megan Boehl, William Henry Boehl II, and Brennen Boehl; her sister, Nancy Holloway (Cecil); in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family members.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, the 7th of March 2023 between the hours of four o’clock in the afternoon and eight o'clock at night within the West Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The Boehl Family will be present between the hours of six o’clock and eight o’clock Tuesday evening and a prayer service will commence at seven o’clock officiated by Pastor Sheri Dittman of the First Presbyterian Church of Brownsville.
A Graveside Service will be held at ten o’clock in the morning on Monday, the 13th of March 2023 at San Fernando Cemetery III, formerly Roselawn Cemetery, located at 1735 Cupples Road in San Antonio, Texas 78226, where Mary will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband William.
Honored to serve as her pallbearers are William Henry Boehl II, Brennan Boehl, Nicholas Thompson, Hunter Miller, Ronald Park, and William Allen "Billy" Boehl.
Honorary pallbearers will be Matt Miller and Geoff deCastro.
