BROWNSVILLE, TX. – Mary H. Cardenas entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, the 11th of October 2022 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville. She was seventy-six years of age.
Mary was born on September 20, 1946 in Brownsville, Texas, daughter of Prospero Echavarria and Consuelo Sauceda Mendoza. She was a loving mother, sister, and aunt, and loved her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren dearly. Mary was a great cook and an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
Preceding Mary in death were her parents, Prospero Echavarria and Consuelo Sauceda Mendoza; and her brother, Ponciano Mendoza.
Survivors include her children Raul Cardenas III, Richard Cardenas, Reynaldo Cardenas, and Cristina Garcia; her siblings Felipa Rodriguez, Tonie Anna Vasquez, Maria Luisa Ramirez, Mela Trimm, Bernarda Chong, and Prospero Echavarria, Jr.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, the 15th of October 2022 between the hours of five o’clock in the afternoon and nine o’clock at night, with the recitation of the holy rosary to begin at seven o'clock Saturday evening within the West Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. All services will conclude Saturday night. Cremation will follow.
