Mauricio Chavez, 73, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas.
Mauricio, a native of El Salvador, had been a resident of Brownsville since 1981, working in the Shrimping industry since his arrival here. Mauricio was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by his family but by all those fortunate to have known him.
Mauricio was preceded in death by his parents, Adriana Cristina Chavez and Ricardo Rafael Vazquez, and two brothers, Jaime and Ricardo Chavez.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 43 years, Castalia E. Chavez; two daughters: Adriana and Giomar Chavez; a son, Mauricio Chavez Jr., four grandchildren: Sergio M. Cavazos, Adriana P. Cavazos, Diego A. Mendoza, and Joaquin Chavez; a sister, Mercedes Hernandez, and a niece, Osma Hernandez; in addition to other extended family members.
In accordance with Mauricio's wishes, he has been cremated. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015, in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in Mauricio's name may be made to the American Legion Post 43, P.O. Box 181, Brownsville, Texas 78522.
