Melquiades "Mike" Perez

BROWNSVILLE, TX. - Melquiades "Mike" Perez entered into eternal rest on Sunday, the 4th of August 2024 in the comfort of his Brownsville residence. He was 63 years of age.

Mike was born in Brownsville, Texas on January 14, 1961, to Francisco “Frank” and Hilda Perez. He graduated from Hanna High School in 1979 as a charismatic and joyous student and athlete. Following graduation, Mike dedicated his career to his parent’s business, Frank’s Round-Up, a cherished restaurant-staple in the community for many years. Following the closure of Frank’s Round-Up, Mike started a catering business to continue his passion for serving friends, family, and his community. In his personal life, Mike had a heart, mind, and soul for sports, both local and at the national level, but his true love was for the Dallas Cowboys. Mike continued his love of food and cooked incredible meals till the end of his days, and he will be missedby many.

Preceding Mike in death were his parents, Frank and Hilda Perez, and his brother, Danny Perez.

Survivors include his children, Victoria Perez and Mikey Perez (Leslie); his beloved granddaughter, Kelly Perez; his brothers, Frank Perez (Yolanda) and Viro Cardenas; and many nieces and nephews. 

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Dorothy Radford and her family, and to Tania Morin Perez, for the love and care they showed Mike in his final years.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, the 10th of August 2024 between the hours of four o'clock in the afternoon and six o'clock in the evening, with a memorial service to begin at five o'clock Saturday afternoon within the East Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home.
