Melvin Tower III, 72, beloved husband, son, uncle, and friend, was welcomed into the arms of his beloved Savior on Sunday, October 12, 2014, at his home in Los Fresnos, Texas with his loving wife and dogs at his side.
Melvin was born in Morgan City, Louisiana in 1942. He came to the valley in 1950. As an adult, he continued his familys legacy of working in the shrimp business. He devoted 20 years to serving as a Boy Scout leader in Port Isabel, Texas.
Melvin will be remembered for his devotion to God, his wife, his dogs and kids. His passion was to go hunting as it was evident by the trophies mounted in his home. He was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan and even though we lost him on Sunday, it was a great day due to the Cowboys win over Seattle.
Melvin was a member of Compadres Beach Ministry and the Methodist Church in Port Isabel and later at the First Baptist Church in Los Fresnos.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Audrey and Martin Tower a brother, Elton Tower and a sister, Margie Smith.
Melvin is survived by his wife of 25 years, Vanessa D. Tower his Momma Leonor A. Tower and 4 nieces and 1 nephew.
Viewing for Mr. Tower will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17th, 2014 with the family starting to greet friends at 4:00 p.m. in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. A prayer service is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Friday evening. A Celebration of Life Service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014 at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
