Mr. Michael E. Lazorko, 89, our beloved father and friend entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 15, 201, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen.
Michael a native of Jersey City, N. J., had been a resident of Brownsville for a number of years. He was a proud veteran of the U. S. Army having served during WW II. Michael fought in Burma, where he was awarded a Bronze Star. When he returned to the U. S., he became a paratrooper. After being discharged, he enrolled at New York University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree.
Michael led a very interesting life. He was the owner of the 7Up Bottling Co. of Pittsfield, Mass., and a partner in the Hudson Armed Co., where he operated its branch in St. Thomas, VI. This enabled Michael to visit almost all the islands in the Caribbean. In his travels, Michael was fortunate to visit 6 of the 7 continents he was proud to say that he went completely around the world. There are Seven Wonders of the World and Michael was lucky to visit all seven of them.
Michael was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor his second wife, Alicia and three brothers, Walter, John, and William Lazorko.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle, a son, Michael, and his stepchildren: James and Nicholas Cazanas and a sister, Annie Mahoney.
A private graveside service will be held today, Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery, in Mission, TX.
