Mickey Harley Parson died peacefully in Nadia's House on November 23, 2015 in Brownsville, Texas at the age of 76
His wife, Paula Parson; children, Barbara Skalberg (Ron), Michael Parson (Seanna), Christopher Parson, five grandchildren; and sister, Barbara Ridley, survive Mickey. He was preceded in death by his father, Harley Parson; mother, Opal Parson; brother, Glen Parson; and sister, Sue Prater.
Mickey was born in Harlingen, Texas to Harley and Opal Parson. He served four years in the United States Army. He graduated from Central Washington University with a master's degree in educational psychology and from San Francisco Theological Seminary with a master's degree in divinity. He worked as a school psychologist in Washington, a school counselor on Kodiak Island in Alaska, and a senior pastor in Okanogan, Washington. Upon his return to Texas, he worked as a teacher, educational diagnostician, and associate school psychologist.
The family will be honoring his life in a small, private family service at the First United Methodist Church in Brownsville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mickey's name to Michael J. Fox's Foundation for Parkinson's Research, First United Methodist Church Brownsville, or Sabal Palms Sanctuary in Brownsville.
