Miguel Angel Ortiz, 97, passed away at his residence in Rancho Viejo, Texas on Tuesday, July 22, 2014.
Born in Pendules, Spain, he moved permanently to the Brownsville area in the early 1950s.
It was here, where along with his wife Melin, he raised his family and became involved in the farming industry. Although not a farmer by trade, it soon became his passion and up to his final days enjoyed being active and keeping current on the farming operation.
Mr. Ortiz was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Carmen Ortiz a daughter, Janet O. Martinez a daughterinlaw, DeAnna G. Ortiz and two brothers, Ricardo and Antonio Ortiz.
He leaves behind two sons: Alfonso Ortiz Tine of Cologne, Germany and Miguel Ortiz Marcela of Rancho Viejo six grandchildren and eleven greatgrandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in his name may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church Building Fund, 602 E. Elizabeth Street, Brownsville, TX 78520.
