Mina Rousset Muñoz, 59, entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 10, 2015, in the presence of her loved ones at INOVA Fairfax Hospital in Fairfax, Virginia.
Mina was born in Brownsville, Texas in January of 1956, to Alice Rousset Muñoz and Carlos Muñoz Sr. She worked for the Brownsville Independent School District for 11 years. In 1989, Mina relocated to the Washington, D.C., area where she began her 26 year career with the Federal Aviation Administration. Mina would have retired in January of 2016.
Mina enjoyed her work, as well as traveling, technology, and spending time with family and friends. She loved fine dining, sports, and music of all kinds. Mina was an inventor and enjoyed researching and studying genealogy. She was brilliant and well known for her beautiful smile and willingness to always lend a helping hand.
Mina was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by her family and friends but by her beloved Maltese, Prince Rousset Muñoz; and all those fortunate to have known her.
Mina was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Alfred and Rosa Rousset; her mother, Alice Rousset Muñoz; her father, Carlos Muñoz Sr.; a nephew, David Muñoz Jr., and a niece, Melissa Rousset Lewis.
Mina is survived by her sister, Sylvia (Ramiro) Perez, both of Fairfax, VA; three brothers, David (Alda) Muñoz Sr., of Corpus Christi, Carlos Muñoz Jr., of Fairfax, VA, and George Louis (Carolina) Muñoz of Amarillo; five nieces, including her two goddaughters, Audra Muñoz Luis and Jacqueline Marie Perez; two nephews, six great nephews, five great nieces, and numerous other extended family members.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. and continue through 8:00 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for 7:00 p.m. tomorrow Friday, August 14th in the East Chapel at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15th @ St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1914 Barnard Rd. Committal services will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
James Alfred Perez, Marc William Muñoz Sr., Frederic Fane Wolfer III, William David Luis, Richard Dennis Solis, and Alan Derenne are honored to be serving as Mina's pallbearers. Martin G. Luis, Charles Louis Wolfer, Andrew Jacob Wolfer, James Alfred Perez II, Marc William Muñoz Jr., and Mason Wade Muñoz will serve as honorary pallbearers.
