Minda M. Rocha was called home to the Lord on November 18, 2016 at the age of 86. Minda was born in Mercedes, Texas on December 18, 1929 and was preceded in death by her parents Antonio V. Montelongo and Maria Salazar of Mercedes, Texas, brothers Antonio Montelongo Jr.,Arturo Montelongo, and son Carlos Vallado. She is survived by her children Fernando Solis (wife Susan Saenz-Solis), Martha Barrientes, Alma Fajardo, Minda Vallado, and Gabriela Rocha, as well as her Grandchildren Marc Solis, Monica Solis, Elisa Rocha, and Paola Vallado.
After living in San Antonio, Texas for many years she became a long time resident of Brownsville. Having visited many foreign countries during her lifetime, she taught her children of world travel and cultures, but she will always be remembered for the gift of music to each of her children. Minda sang professionally in San Antonio back in the days of live radio and maintained an amazing singing voice until the time of her death. Minda had the ability to remember hundreds of songs and was never shy about singing anywhere, anytime.
In accordance with her wishes, only a private service was held at the Darling-Mouser Funeral Home followed by cremation and internment at a later date. A funeral mass will be held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1218 E. Jefferson St., Brownsville, Texas on Tuesday the 22nd of November, 2016 at 10:00 AM.
