Minerva "Minnie" T Spencer

Minerva T. Spencer, 83, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend entered into the glory of her eternal life on Friday, April 26, 2013, at Sunshine Haven Hospice Facility in Olmito, TX, surrounded by her loving family.

Minnie as she was affectionately known to all, was a native and lifetime resident of Brownsville. Minnie was an RN who worked with Drs. Keeble and Jones for 34 years. Due to their affiliation with Amway, Minnie and her husband Sam were able to travel extensively throughout the country. Minnie also loved to cook and bake for family and friends and she was always improvising on her recipes. A devout Catholic, Minnie was a parishioner at St. Lukes. Minnie was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all those fortunate to have known her.

Minnie was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Dominga Saldaa.

Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of her are her husband of 59 years, Samuel Sam H. Spencer Sr., a son, Samuel H. Sonia Spencer Jr., and her daughter, Susan Lynn Leonard Geissel the grandchildren that were the apple of her eye: Jennifer Spencer, Crystal Ben Gabbert, John Samuel Spencer, Heather Marie Spencer, Samantha Nick McDonald, Naomi Russo Nobbie, Spencer Lee Michaela Cantu, Miranda Geissel, J. J. Yvette Guajardo, Michael Guajardo, and Danny Reyna and seventeen greatgrandchildren. Minnie will also be missed by her sister, Elba Ramirez and numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other extended family members.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. and continue through 9:00 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2013, with the recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Monday evening, in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at St. Lukes Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Drive, Brownsville, Texas. Committal services will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
