Mrs. Naomi Elizabeth Hargis, 90, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at her residence in Brownsville.
Born and raised in the Piney Woods of Texas, Mrs. Hargis devoted a total of 43 years of her life and love to the education of children in the state of Texas. Naomi unselfishly touched the lives and molded the destiny of aspiring young people with a dream. Naomi was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by her family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known her.
Naomi was preceded in death by her husband Otis Hargis her parents six brothers, and a soninlaw, Bonny Wilburn.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of her are her two daughters, Brenda J. Wilburn and Diane E. Darrell Sanders the grandson that was her pride and joy, Dietrich Sanders two sisters, Ara James Shankle and Joyce Giles three sistersinlaw, Espaniola Washington, Estella Black, and Gertha Hargis her church family and numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 and continue through 9:00 p.m. in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home with a prayer service scheduled for 7:00 p.m. Friday evening. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 2634 Old Port Isabel Road. Committal services will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
