Noralee Pope Hughston passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 28, 2020. She was the only child of Kenneth and Winifred Crammond born on July 25, 1934. Noralee was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church, Brownsville singing in the choir, serving as a Deacon, and as volunteer church treasurer. She worked for Church of the Advent for 30 years as Financial Secretary and made lifelong friends there; it was her second church home. Noralee served on numerous boards and serving on the board at Gladys Porter Zoo was one of her favorites. All out of town guests of the Popes were treated to a zoo visit. She was a faithful caregiver to her “Mama;” caring for her for over a decade while continuing to work.
In 2009, she and Ray Hughston married and began traveling around the country. She loved to travel and she and Ray were blessed to be able to see many places together before her illness.
She will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Ray; daughter Sheri (Eric) Dittman and son Craig (Sharon) Pope; “The Fabulous Four” grandchildren: Hilary (Al) Lock, Ashley (Carmen) Dittman, Jonathan Dittman, and David Dittman; numerous step-children and step-grandchildren whom she claimed as her own; sister-in-law Patti Pope Walker; and nieces and nephews .
Noralee was preceded in death by her loving husband of 32 years Tom Pope; parents Kenneth and Winifred Crammond.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Juani and Lupita (Noralee’s special angels), Dr. Juan Martinez and Bee First Home Hospice for their exceptional compassion and care.
