Norma E. Garcia, 52, beloved daughter, sister, mother, niece, aunt, and friend on Saturday, November 22, 2008 after a courageous battle with cancer, peacefully entered into our Lords kingdom surrounded by her family and friends.
A native and lifetime resident of Brownsville, she was born on February 11, 1956, to Victor H. Lalo Garcia and Maria F. Garcia.
After graduating from Brownsville High in 1974 and receiving a Bachelors in Education from Pan American University at Brownsville, she became an elementary educator for the Brownsville I.S.D. Norma began her teaching career at Southmost Elementary and continued at Palm Grove, Morningside, and Villa Nueva Elementary. She ended her career at Southwest Key.
Norma enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family and friends. She was a feisty and vivacious in
idual. We conclude that her mission in this life was to serve others. We thank our Lord for the wonderful years he allowed Norma to be with us.
Left to eternally treasure her memory are her children: Lisa Renee Garcia fianc Demetrio Garcia Jr. and Petty Officer Third Class U.S. Navy Joseph Noe Garcia; her mother Maria F. Garcia; her sisters: Molly G. Barron, Milly G. Dale, Lydia G. Tommy Liendo, Josie G. Joe Hinojosa, and Lizzy G. Marty Pea; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 and continue through 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. The Mass of Christian Resurrection is tentatively scheduled for 3 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at St. Lukes Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park. Proud to serve as her pallbearers are Victor Jose Barron, Daniel John Dale, Tommy Liendo Jr., Joe Hinojosa, Marty Pea, and Robert Rios.
Honorary pallbearers will be Noe Garcia, Demetrio Garcia Jr., Jose Casarez, Jorge Herrera, Leo Olguin, Rolando Barron, Abel Rangel, Eli Vasquez Jr., Brian Crawford, Tommy Lee Liendo, Rick Lopez, Michael Richard Pea, Frank Martin, Jesus Lozano, and George Rios.
The family wishes to thank Father Rudy Franco for his loving words of encouragement and continuous prayers. Special thanks to Dr. Sharma, Dr. Gonzalez, and the staff at Texas Oncology Cancer Center and Odyssey Hospice.
