Nydia Martinez Montaez, 63, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville, Texas.
Nydia, who was born in Brownsville, graduated from Brownsville High School in 1969. She attended Texas Southmost College and then Pan American University in Edinburg where she obtained her Bachelors of Education degree. In 1976, she married Eduardo Montaez and moved to Mexico City where they lived for 10 years. While living in the D.F., Nydia taught at the Colegio Americano and Moderno Americano. After the earthquake of 1986, Nydia persuaded her husband to leave Mexico City and return to Brownsville to live.
Nydia touched the lives of countless students during a career with the BISD that spanned 25 years. She taught Second grade at both Canales and Burns Elementary Schools.
Nydia was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed not only by her family and friends but by all those fortunate to have known her.
Nydia was preceded in death by her parents, Manuela Salinas and Miguel Lugo Martinez.
Nydia is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 38 years, Eduardo Montaez two sons: Eduardo Jessica and Adrian Tessia Montaez two grandchildren: Isabella Alexis and Mateo Eduardo Montaez her siblings:
Maria Margarita Gaston Alvarez, Irma Armando Rodriguez, Miguel Humberto Trinnie Martinez, Elvia Ramiro Vidaurri, Maria Elena Ray Luzbetak, Jos Joel Terry Martinez, and Armando Yolanda Martinez along with 24 nieces and nephews, numerous greatnieces and nephews, and other extended family members.
Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, June 25, 2014, from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the East Chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7:00 p.m. this evening at DarlingMouser. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2014, at St. Marys Catholic Church, 1914 Barnard Road. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum at Buena Vista Burial Park.
