Ofelia C. Guajardo, 83, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, entered into the glory of her eternal life on Tuesday, February 01, 2011 at her daughters residence in Brownsville surrounded by her loving family after a valiant battle with cancer.
Ofelia was a lifetime resident of Brownsville. She worked for and had retired from National Bank of Commerce after 18 years in loan services. She was a member of H2U where she belonged to their quilting club as well as participating in many of their activities.
Ofelia was also a member of the Mall Walkers Club. A devout Catholic, Ofelia was a parishioner at St. Lukes Catholic Church. Ofelia will be truly missed by all those fortunate to have known her.
Ofelia was preceded in death by her parents, Rafael and Jovita Carrasco her husband, Jesus P. Guajardo a sister, Margarita C. Barron, and 3 brothers: Leonel, Raul, and Carlos Carrasco.
Left behind to eternally treasure their memories of her are her children: Rolando and his wife Carrie, Hector Guajardo, David and his wife Camila, and Norma Jean Harrison the grandchildren that were the apple of her eye: Jessica Strubelt, Rolando Guajardo II, Delia Guajardo, Leena Guajardo, Dominique Guajardo, and Diego Guajardo 1 greatgrandson, Amaziah Grey Guajardo 3 sisters: Emma and her husband Gilberto Borja, Irma and her husband Roy Kemp, and Alicia Jes Torben and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, February 4, 2011 with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. Friday evening at DarlingMouser Funeral Home. The Liturgical Service of Christian Resurrection will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at St. Lukes Catholic Church, 2800 Rockwell Dr. Interment will follow at Buena Vista Burial Park.
Alfredo Barron Jr., Rafael Carrasco, Robert Carrasco, Orlando J. Elizondo, Rolando Guajardo II, and Jes Torben Jr. are honored to be serving as Ofelias pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be her brothersinlaw: Alfredo Barron Sr., Gilberto Borja, and Roy Kemp and all her nieces and nephews.
