Olga Maria Cardenas, 72, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt entered into the glory of her eternal life on Sunday, May 18, 2008 at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Brownsville.

A native of Camaron, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, she had been a resident of Brownsville since 1972. A seamstress by trade, Olga worked for Levi Strauss and retired after 23 years of service. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

She was The hostess with the mostest. She could whip up a 5 course meal for family and friends who dropped in to visit without batting an eyelash. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, baking, and gardening. She was devoted to her family and she was always ready to help them in anyway possible. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Francisco Guadalupe Montoya; an infant son, Jose Cardenas; 3 brothers: Eugenio, Manuel, Federico Montoya; and 2 sisters, Ana Maria Carpio Alicia Perez.

Left behind to eternally treasure her memory is her husband of 54 years, Ramiro Cardenas, Sr.; two daughters: Esperanza Felipe Garcia and Olga B. John Getz; her son, Ramiro Patricia Cardenas, Jr.; her grandchildren: Jorge Felipe Garcia, Natali Esperanza Garcia, Jorge Becerra III, Mayra Patricia Cardenas, Roberto Carlos Becerra, and Ramiro Cardenas III. She will also be missed by her brother, Francisco Emilia Montoya; 4 sisters: Herminia Rodriguez, Esperanza Federico Gonzalez, Malberth Vargas, Maria del Refugio Enrique Garza; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at Noon on Monday, May 19, 2008 and continue through 9 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary at 7 p.m. this evening in the West Chapel of Darling-Mouser Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Resurrection will be at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 555 W. St. Francis St. in Brownsville. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens. Olgas two sons-in-law Felipe Garcia and John Getz together with her 4 grandsons, Jorge Felipe Garcia, Jorge Becerra III, Roberto Carlos Becerra, and Ramiro Cardenas III are honored to be serving as her pallbearers.
