Olivia C. Marks, 89, died peacefully on Friday, March 16, 2012 at Park Manor in The Woodlands, Texas.
She was born July 1922, in Brownsville, Texas, the daughter of Rafael Longoria Cisneros and Santos Saenz Cisneros.
Olivia spent most of her life living and working in Brownsville, Texas, where together with her husband, the late Jose A. Marks Sr., started a thriving furniture and drapery business in 1949, Marks Interiors. Her sewing skills and capacity for long work hours were legendary.
She was well traveled and enjoyed visiting new places both in the U.S. and abroad. But her most noteworthy contributions and lasting legacy were the time and effort she regularly made to help others in so many ways. These words sum up her life and are taken from her favorite Psalm, the 23rd, Goodness and kindness will follow me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.
Olivia is predeceased by her spouse, Jose A. Marks Sr., two sons: Adolfo Marks and Rudy Marks Sr. and a sister, Aracelia Cisneros.
She is survived by her children: Jose Angel Graciela Marks Jr., of Brownsville, TX, Alejandro Susan Marks, of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Graciela Grace Antonio Fernandez, of Houston, TX, Martha Marti Randall Brooks, and Juan Antonio Johnny Marks, of Dallas, TX twelve grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren. She will also be sorely missed by all her family, including her many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Monday, March 19, 2012 in the East chapel at DarlingMouser Funeral Home.
We will depart the Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. for a graveside service at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Joe Marks, Jr., Rudy Marks, Jr., Juan Antonio Marks, Jose Antonio Fernandez, Randy Brooks, and Joe Marks III, will be serving as Olivias pallbearers.
